NOTICE
Village of Lumby Burning By-law Amendment By-law 679-2008

Please take notice, that the Village of Lumby has amended burning By-law 635-2005

Major Changes to the Burning By-law are:

  1. The only burning permitted within the Village of Lumby are on properties over one (1) acre in size, and that is only for fire fuel management.
  2. Wood waste and slash from land development clearing within the Village of Lumby shall only be burnt with an Air Curtain Burner System.
  3. 3. Burning Permits are required if any party wishes to to burn under the above regulations. Please note, burning without an approved permit is subject to a fine of $200.

Please note a burning permit is not required under the Burning By-law 635-2005, for cooking of food using a portable barbecuing appliance or recreational burning or the cooking of food in Acceptable Fire Pits or Acceptable Fire Places, subject to the conditions set forth in the Burning By-law. Please see Section 3.2 of By-law 635-2005.
