Lumby Recieves New Federal Funds for Phase 1 of Integrated Watershed Sustainability PlanLumby, BC - Lumby will receive $94,000 of the $3.7 million Canada Gas Tax Fund which is being provided to 22 communities throughout British Columbia to support long-term infrastructure planning. Lumby will use the funding for Phase 1 of an Integrated Watershed Sustainability Plan - Policy Direction & Community Engagement in the Context of Sanitary Effluent Disposal. An Integrated Watershed Sustainability Plan will guide the Village of Lumby in managing the watershed through the development of a liquid waste management plan in a manner for long-term sustainability. The Integrated Watershed Sustainability Plan is about working together through full community involvement and engagement to achieve a realistic plan for current and future residents. “Receiving this funding will help ensure the long-term sustainability of our watershed which will greatly benefit our community and neighbouring rural areas ” says Mayor Acton.
